Women Are Not Yet Equal?!

Women Are Not Yet Equal?!

I find it absolutely amazing that women in the U.S. don't have equal rights. For over 240 years we have been the subject of discriminatory attitudes and treatment. It's time that women are acknowledged as citizens and have the same rights as men. in 1972, the ERA passed in both houses of Congress. Supported by Republican President Richard Nixon, 35 states went on to pass the amendment.  However, it fell 3 states short of the 38-state requirement. Most recently, after 40 years of inaction, Nevada became the 36th state to pass the ERA, breathing new life into the idea that equality...

We Shop, Therefore We Are

We Shop, Therefore We Are

When did the transition of Thanksgiving weekend from a cozy family get-together to a full-on shopping extravaganza happen? Every year I’m taken by surprise at how we got here so quickly. I look back and it feels like just last week I was debating on whether to actually do New Year resolutions! Now LuLuBdesign is part of the madness and I realized I wasn’t sure when and how it all started. So here’s a bit of shopping history. Black Friday was associated with the 1869 financial crisis. The story goes that two scheming Wall Street types bought up a lot...

Bohemian Rhapsody

Bohemian Rhapsody

Did you see the movie? I really enjoyed it. It was great having Freddie Mercury’s unabashed style and air of rebellion back in our consciousness. Mercury was a style icon. His glam, bohemian fashion flair, showed the world he was free from the conformity of others.                 What we wear, how we wear it and when we wear it can visually communicate who we are, our social influences as well as our ambitions and emotions. For over 200 years, the Bohemian style has been an alternative to social and political principles. "Bohemian" was associated with artists, writers, and intellectuals, who were the counter-culture...

I’m going to add the word “creative” too, at least that’s what you get when you add my versatile LuLuwrap to the mi If you are planning a trip you should know that the LuLuwrap is perfect for traveling. Time to Clean Out your Closet

Time to Clean Out your Closet

Now that Autumn is 3 days away it's a great time to take a look at your wardrobe and reevaluate what no longer looks good on you or is just plain worn out - what you should keep and what clothes are destined for donation. I like to do this twice a year. Most of us accumulate clothing every season. We've convinced ourselves that getting new clothes will make us more joyful, more fashionable, and more popular. Have you ever thought of really pairing down and owning fewer clothes?   As I was cleaning out my closet a few years back I started to wonder how my...

Do You Wear Strength and Femininity?

Kudos to Serena Williams. She's got fashion flare. She's got strength. She's got balls and not just tennis balls   Upon Serena Williams return to the game at the French Open, she wore a compression catsuit that was designed exclusively for her to help prevent blood clots after the birth of her daughter. She even dedicated the suit to the mothers who have experienced complications following pregnancy. The French Tennis Federation officials went crazy and declared that her catsuit "will no longer be accepted."   The catsuit that created a new dress code! So now she's rockin' a tutu! Cut to the U.S. open and Serena's...
